Cuppa Joe Fertilizer...Coffee grounds are great additives to your compost pile. But, the really great things about coffee grounds is that you don't have to have a compost pile to use them as fertilizer. You can just mix them straight into the soil where you do your planting, or you can scatter them around the plants on top of the soil. Ants are supposed to be deterred by coffee grounds, so if you're having an ant problem, you can spread them on the ground for that purpose as well. If you're not a coffee drinker, used tea leaves work just as well. Also, most coffee shops will be happy to save bags of used coffee grinds for you to take home, if you ask them.
